WHAT DOES AN ACHIEVEMENT LOOK LIKE?

Some like to fix what is broken. Some like to push the envelope. Others like to grow something where there was nothing. Some love to compete. Some like to perform. Others want to come up with a great idea and then make it work .. Some love to make money. There are those who want to build new structures. Many among my associates live to have an impact on their clients. Some folks love to overcome great difficulties, and do the near-impossible. Certain people experience real joy when they have done something really unique. Others love to acquire coins, stamps, rocks, bikes, cars, houses, children and businesses. Many scientists live to discover new knowledge. Many seek to solve problems. Some people love to meet a specific challenge that tests their strength or persistence. Some are really turned on by the opportunity to satisfy needs. Gaining recognition is the end game for some. Pioneering is the essence of meaning for a few. Mastering complexity consumes some. Prevailing against opposition, whether it is evil or the other team, fully engages some. Exploiting a perceived potential in a person or a product is life to many. Becoming proficient at a new task or skill recurs frequently for some. Breaking records; raising animals; comprehending and expressing a new understanding; ..... are a few of the many ways that have a firm grip on the souls of their landlord.

Even as children and youth, there are so many worlds to explore and express their giftedness. Chronologically, there are sand castles to build; escape-proof play pens to defy; a formidable collection of dolls to acquire; tea parties for new friends; complex neighborhoods to explore; was the fastest tree climber; organized alley carnivals; fixed any broken toy; made lead soldiers; read 30 books one summer; built 2 story tree house for meetings; hit .500 in softball; helped dad in his workshop; camped in mid-winter; black powder experiments; made up carrot-cake recipe which won a prize; slept overnight in the woods by myself; beat the boys in a foot race; ploughed straight lines; got top grades in creative writing; ran profitable newspaper route during high school years; lead roles in all the school plays; escaped gang life; was known for weird gags on the teacher; ran a popular but losing campaign for class office; played football, basketball and track; first girl to play hardball with the boys; made #3 on tennis team; loved being enforcer in hockey; tore down and rebuilt 50' stone wall in one weekend; got the fox that was getting the chickens; picked the most apples; helped the construction crew; trained older kids to use the computer; hunting with adults, first deer; 4 pound brown trout; beat a bully; placed at state level; memorized and recited Romans 8; made debate team even though I stuttered; saved a boy from drowning; survived trip to India; made all-state choir; excelled in my geology science project; counseled kids.
