STEPS TO INTRODUCE SIMA FOR MANAGEMENT Unlocking Your Strong-Box
Whether the initial participants are a boss/subordinate, or a working team of professionals, or all middle level managers of one function, or the staff of a school system or college, or the staff and lay leadership of a church, we follow these steps for you to experience and evaluate the transcending power of giftedness to achieve what we all value but rarely obtain ... .love for your work.
- Orientation ..... We spend four hours at your convenience providing a thorough explanation of the process and the many benefits to be gained by the organization, its management, its employees and those it serves. We devote a good deal of time to illustrating the kinds of questions that are answered, the behavior that is explained and predicted, and the general improvements in productivity and good will. Forms are distributed and schedules are set up for the interviews, feedback and ultimate evaluation. We ask you to read one of the books writen by our staff about SIMA in preparation for the discovery process you are about to experience.
- Achievement Interviews .... Taped interviews of two to three hours are enjoyed by each participant recalling and being urged to describe in detail the actions taken to accomplish that 'one thing' of unsurpassed value to the person. Achievers are encouraged to surface for clarity any questions about past, present or future behavior which kind of remains a mystery and about which they would appreciate answers.
- Motivational Patterns of Giftedness ..... Transcripts are prepared and exhaustive analysis of all the recurring themes begin. (Both tapes and transcripts are returned; used by some of our clients ultimately to inform progeny about their good genes!) Reports are prepared and sent to the achievers to review and prepare for the feed-back discussions. Achievers are encouraged to question anything they don't understand, don't like or don't want to believe. Any conclusion reached by the Biographer will be immediately verifiable from the transcript.
- Personal Feed-Back ..... Our PMI Consultant will go over the Report in detail explaining and illustrating, probing for questions the achiever may have, dealing with issues raised during the interview, taking whatever time is required. One or more additional sessions may be scheduled with management participants to make sure they thoroughly understand the insights and have no additional questions.
- Sharing the Insights ..... The point of understanding a person's giftedness and motivation is to make productive use of them in a way that benefits both the organization and the achiever. In our experience the best way to bring that result about is for our Consultant to 'brief the boss/coach/mentor' on the insights gained in the Report with specific recommendations about how to best manage and develop the achiever (covered during Orientation).
Where compatible with organizational culture, this would be followed by a session where our Consultant represents the insights to both the achiever and the person-in-authority, opening up issues needing more light and resolution, gaining some initial commitments from both parties, and suggesting ways of coping with elements missing from the achiever's strong-box.
Whether two people or a team of six, knowing and drawing on the giftedness of each party involved is essential to a productive and winning combination. We are well beyond the time when partners should have to guess about what each person brings to the table, likely actions, reactions and the like. Therefore, a suggestion will be made that the boss or leader go through a similar process of discovering his/her Pattern of Giftedness.
- Training of In-House Resources .... If and when those involved in 'The Strong-Box Project' have enough experience to give a thumbs-up approval to go wider and deeper, we urge the training of in-house resources (staff or faculty) to drive the growth of the effort. We seek to have giftedness integrated into the lifeblood of our client, and we have found out that can only happen through some one (or several) embedded in the organization we call 'the Prophets'. The Prophet can be trained over several months and certified to do the Achievement Interviewing and Feed-back reviews. Analysis of the achievements and preparation of the Pattern Report requires such a lengthy period of training that it should only be added to the Prophet's responsibilities after much experience with SIMA and complete acceptance by others.
- Fees for these services follow. Needed only once in an adult lifetime, the data generated has engaged heart and mind and expresses the soul or essence of the person. Let me get more personal. Even if you are a professional test-taker this will be a first for you because it isn't a test; it isn't based on how you compare to others; it isn't some feature about you. It isn't about a quality or a bunch of qualities you possess, or about your temperament, or about what traits you are comparatively measured to possess. None of those attributes can be reliably translated into specific actions, so their usefulness is limited. We don't know what they mean in terms of how you will perform on the job.
Besides the fact that it isn't like anything else on the market, it's greatest and most valuable distinctiveness is that it focusses exclusively on what you have demonstrated throughout your entire life that you can do very, very well. As a result, it can be used throughout your career to predict detailed work performance on future jobs; identify reasons for and solutions to operating problems where you are involved; explain shortcomings; suggest coping strategies; resolve or manage conflict; make assignments; function and tenure on teams; use to complement weaknesses of others, etc. etc.and etc.
In the services described above, differences in fees charged for the same kind of product reflect the amount of time spent with the individual to make sure the level of understanding befitting the position is adequately nuanced and thoroughly reviewed. Those managing others are stewards and responsible for how the organization makes use of this expensive asset called the human being. Fees are based on at least three or more participants, needed to use up days of Orientation, Interviewing, Feed-back and Shared Insights. Travel expenses are additional.
