This book represents an odyssey of discovery, and is a synthesis and application of my four previous books. Ten chapters cover the story -- each chapter dealing with issues critical to resolving the underlying dispute about the nature of the person, and its implications. Here is a roadmap that summarizes where I hope to take you in ten chapters of reading:

  1. The Great Question: Our Identity Crisis [summary]
  2. Life as s Blank Slate [summary]
  3. The Becoming Culture - A Strategy for Losers [summary]
  4. Birthright! Hardwired Giftedness [summary]
  5. Empowered and Purposed Patterns [summary]
  6. The Nature of the Person [summary]
  7. The Science of Persons [summary]
  8. Darwin - The End of the Trail? [summary]
  9. The Meaning of Life [summary]
  10. Stewardship - The Path to Life [summary]
For the first time in recorded history we now possess the means to understand the uniqueness of each person and with that comprehension --- to require that schools educate and equip that uniqueness for a productive and satisfying life and career; to encourage employers to comply with a new scorecard based on stewardship of their human resources, similar to their accounting for material and financial resources, which would reveal their success in making productive use of the unique strengths of each employee; to urge religious institutions to embrace the unique call placed on each life and enable each believer to reach a full and spiritually mature expression in loving God by serving the world.

What I am proposing is a way to finally make sense out of life for everybody: a way to worship and do business with the Lord of life; a way to understand the holy mission written into our souls and become a fully realized child of God. Critical to even beginning our individual journey is a way to transform society so that enabling the unique, defined potential of each person becomes an inescapable task of the parent, the teacher, the employer, and the clergy --- all orchestrated by the Holy Spirit of God --- all operating from the same page…the Pattern of Giftedness. Just think of the implications:

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus
to devote ourselves to the good deeds for which God has
    designed us" (Eph. 2:10).

And because there is so little understanding, and so much misunderstanding about what it means to live as a person of faith, I have tried also in this final chapter to focus on that issue in the light that God has designed each person to pursue a career and life based on that design. Basic operating philosophy, ground rules, results desired, and accountability are clearly established by God, and need to dominate any discussion about a life of faith, which I attempt to do. The freedom God has given to work out His grace in us any place and anywhere in the world, the responsibility for being faithful to his charge, the intense, unfeigned love required from us in that holiest endeavor -- is much to take in and ponder.
